General Schedule - Friday evening August 19th - Sunday noon August 21st
Our deepest thanks go to Lisa and Tom Gray for being our local hosts!! They've been patiently standing by for three summers to share their wonderful community with us.
Come on Friday afternoon to enjoy a guided tour of the Richard Allen Cultural Center - 2:30 pm
This museum encompasses the remarkable African American heritage of Leavenworth, from Buffalo Soldiers
to the Underground Railroad. The tour is included in your registration fee. Learn more at
FRIDAY EVENING AUGUST 24th: "First Thoughts"
It's hard to believe that it will have been three years since we gathered in Colby. On Friday night we'll reflect on our personal and community journeys since then.
All of our sessions - Friday night, Saturday during the day, and Sunday morning will be held at the Riverfront Community Center, a brief walk from our hotel on the bank of the Missouri River.
We'll finish our first evening session around 9:00 and meet back at the Home2 Suites for "Dialogue After Hours" in the hospitality room.
SATURDAY AUGUST 25th
The Heart of Dialogue: day sessions at the Riverfront Community Center
We'll breakfast at Home2 Suites, then wander down to the Riverfront. There will be two general sessions with the whole group, and three concurrent sessions where we'll be splitting into smaller groups and have many topics to choose from. Thanks to the suggestions you make on your registration form, the conversations will range from nitty gritty to humorous and philosophical. There's something for everyone! We'll also have lunch at the Riverfront.
SAT MID-AFTERNOON: A remarkable tour of Fort Leavenworth and the Command and General Staff College
We are so fortunate that our host Thomas Gray is a civilian instructor here at the college. We are in for a fascinating time! We are limiting this tour to 45 people so we can all fit on one bus. Be sure to let us know you want to come. If you choose not to take this tour, you can roam other attractions in Leavenworth, go shopping, or take a nap!
SATURDAY EVENING AT THE HERITAGE CENTER - MUSIC & LAUGHTER WITH "3 TRAILS WEST" !
What fun! We've called in a favor, and are going to have a joyous evening with the award-winning cowboy band called "3 Trails West". Named after the westward trails that crossed through this area, 3 Trails West will delight us with music from the Silver Screen Cowboy era and Bob Wills-style Western Swing. Both the International Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists have named 3 Trails West as their "Group of the Year", and you'll see why. We'll also learn a little western history along the way.
We'll continue our conversations "After Hours" at the hotel hospitality suite.
SUNDAY MORNING AT Riverfront Community Center: some high octane conversation!
Many people say this is their favorite part of the weekend. We'll have three roundtable sessions where you can choose from 10-11 topics at a time. These include some fresh topics that you bring to Kansas Dialogue on Friday night, so they feature the latest current events, the most controversial subjects, the goofy, the esoteric, the political, the spiritual... topics that are best suited to small group sharing.
As always, we conclude the weekend with our own fake radio show: "This I Believe"... an inspiring collection of audio essays written and performed by several people in our group. This live show is modeled after the NPR Radio series.
PLEASE JOIN US FOR A MEMORABLE WEEKEND GETAWAY!
