We're planning some optional activities for folks who would like to come early on Friday afternoon. Stay tuned for details!
General Schedule - Friday evening August 15th - Sunday noon August 17th
FRIDAY EVENING AUGUST 15th: "Come Together" at the Geary County Convention Center
310 Hammons Dr, Junction City (Right off Exit 298 on I-70)
The Geary County Convention Center is connected to our headquarters hotel, the Sonesta Essential.
The Convention Center will be the site of all of our main Dialogue sessions on Friday night,
Saturday morning & afternoon, and Sunday morning. This will also be the site of our silent auction.
On Friday evening registration will begin at 4:30 pm at the Convention Center. Our reception, dinner and evening program will begin at 5:30 and go until around 9:00 pm.
Afterwards we'll meet for "Dialogue After Hours" - drinks and snacks in the hospitality room.
SATURDAY AUGUST 16th
The Heart of Dialogue: day sessions at the Geary County Convention Center from 8:45 - 2:15
We'll kick off with a general session at 8:45, followed by breakout sessions (smaller conversations of 20 people). You'll have four different topics to choose from each time. Thanks to the suggestions you make on your registration form, the conversations will range from nitty gritty to humorous and philosophical. There's something for everyone!
SATURDAY AFTERNOON - Driving tour of Fort Riley with guide, and visit to U.S. Cavalry Museum
Saturday evening in downtown Junction City
We'll be dining as a group at "Blu", a wonderful downtown restaurant. Then we'll walk down the block to the C.L. Hoover Opera House for our evening session.
We'll continue our conversations "After Hours" at the Sonesta Essential.
SUNDAY MORNING AUGUST 17th at the Geary County Convention Center
Many people say this is their favorite part of the weekend. We'll have three roundtable sessions where you can choose from 9-10 topics at a time. These include some fresh topics that you bring to Kansas Dialogue on Friday night, so they feature the latest current events, the most controversial subjects, the goofy, the esoteric, the political, the spiritual... topics that are best suited to small group sharing.
As always, we conclude the weekend with our own fake radio show: "This I Believe"... an inspiring collection of audio essays written and performed by several people in our group. This live show is modeled after the NPR Radio series.
PLEASE JOIN US FOR A MEMORABLE WEEKEND GETAWAY!
More details will be available once we know who's coming.
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT: In celebration of our 30th Kansas Dialogue we are tacking on an optional day so that we can enjoy the Acorns Resort at Lake Milford. Cabins and lodge rooms are available to rent at similar cost to the hotel. On Sunday afternoon and evening we'll enjoy the lake, take a boat ride, lounge at the excellent bar and grill on site, and just hang out. We will be able to give more information when we know who is interested in coming. Please check that box on the registration form.
